Points of Interest

On the way down into the town of Tomar from the Templars' Castle and the Convent of Christ, we would suggest a visit to the Igreja da Misericórdia church, the town Synagogue, now the Abraham Zacuto Luso-Hebrew Museum, the Church of São João Baptista and the Praça da República. A stroll around the streets of the town's historic centre is also worthwhile.

Along the banks of the Rio Nabão, the vistor will appreciate the gardens, the Mouchão island in the river with its emblematic water wheel and the Lagares d'El Rei (The King's Oil Presses).

The Regional Tourism Office for Lisbon and the Tagus Valley and Tomar Town Council also promote a number of itineraries through the town and its surroundings, including routes specifically laid out for walkers, motorcyclists, equestrians, tourist trains and for adventure tourists.
